Side Background Scrolling Transition

Yes, it is an unique feature from Pixie, which looks pretty awesome. It helps you to give better reading experience to users. It keeps your content text as the main focus, while any big scenic image will be presented on the left and will change when user reading reach some certain “checkpoint”. I also used this similar layout for my former template, which is likely to be Pixie’s “elder sister”, named Dixie.

Put it anywhere you want!

Since Pixie version 2.0, you can insert the side background shortcodes anywhere within your posts / pages / any other post types. Besides, you can embed gallery / audio / video iframe on top of the background image.

Use it for story-telling blog posts

You can use this feature in many creative ways. For example, you are a “cooking master” who blogs about recipes and step by step guides how to cook it. you can insert step by step images for every steps on the cooking process. On the content, you coud give short description of the steps, and the side background will have a corresponding image to your description! Awesome, eh?

I love the idea. I planned to create a new travelling blog, and I think it’s good to use the left background layout for my posts. Can’t wait to release my new blog with Pixie!
